FFXIV: Last names (probably) required
So, it is no secret that last names appear to be mandatory in the current alpha version of FFXIV. We also have no way of knowing if that is likely to change before FFXIV is released. So here is my suggestion to anyone who is considering playing.
If you are like me, you probably have a common gamer tag you use for online games. In FFXI, I was Senhokyoho, a white mage on the Seraph server. If you are uncreative like me, you are probably considering something lame like using "Senho Kyoho" or "Sen Hokyoho." I know I was thinking of that... until now.
My suggestion to anyone who already played FFXI is to use your old server name as your last name in FFXIV. For example, I would be "Senhokyoho Seraph." One one hand I think it is a lot cooler than splitting up my name, and on the other hand it would be sweet to see all of the other Seraph family members running around in the game.
